- In ancient times, when a young girl was
to be married, she would seek out the
village wise woman and ask that a braid
of colors be woven for her wedding
day.
The wise woman would gather strips of
cloth dyed in the eight basic colors; red,
orange, yellow, green, blue, purple,
white, and black. Each color
represented a blessing of love. The
colorful fabrics would then be braided
together to form a colors of love braid.
The braid would then be worn by the
bride on her wedding day (usually tied
to her undergarments), and later be
placed permanently under the marital
mattress to ensure a happy and blessed
love match.
This old world custom is back to be
enjoyed by modern brides today. And
the keepsake Sterling Silver Angel
pendant represents a heavenly guardian
to watch over the couple's love. The
bride may add this lovely pendant to a
favorite necklace or attach it to the
blessings braid.
